The Hidden Cost of Low Pay: Analyzing and Addressing Compensation for Early and School-Aged Learning Educators in Indiana

Introduction

In response to the need for working families to have more access to high-quality, affordable child care, the Indiana Senate in 2024 drafted legislation, Senate Act 2, with several key reforms for Early and School-Aged Learning (EASAL), including a requirement to examine compensation and to issue a report with recommendations. This report examines EASAL compensation in Indiana by role, region, service center type, quality rating, seniority, and education level and provides recommendations based on the findings.
