Hiring individuals with past incarceration isn’t just an act of goodwill—it’s a strategic advantage. Many organizations have found that these employees bring valuable skills, loyalty, and a strong work ethic. Yet, outdated biases and misconceptions still keep too many employers from tapping into this talent pool. The cost of inaction is high—not just for individuals, but for our communities, as unemployment drives higher recidivism rates and limits economic mobility.
That’s why TalentFirst, Calvin University, and the Michigan Department of Corrections have partnered to offer a Second Chance Hiring Program. This hands-on learning experience includes an online course, an immersive prison education visit, and an interactive workshop—all designed to equip employers with the tools and insights to build fair-chance hiring strategies.
The next cohort begins online April 28th. Register here.
